Worried About Your Brain? You'll Like this Unexpected Advice.

As an executive coach who genuinely cares about my clients' cognitive well-being, I believe that maintaining mental fitness is crucial for success. In today's world packed with mind-numbing tech, cognitive decline is a growing concern. However, there are easy habits we can adopt to keep our minds in top shape.

I recently spoke with Dr. José Enrique Carrales Ley, a neurologist in Mexico City, and he suggested that one of the most accessible activities is walking. Just 30 minutes of continuous walking each day not only improves cardiovascular health but also boosts blood flow to the brain, reducing the risk of cognitive decline.

Adequate sleep is another key element. Research consistently shows that lack of sleep negatively affects memory, attention, and problem-solving skills. Memory champ Yangee Wintersoul talks about critical a good night's sleep is when she's competing, so it's wise to aim for a minimum of 6 hours of quality sleep.

Engaging in artistic endeavors, like dancing, singing, or creating art of any kind — has notable cognitive benefits. Artistic expression taps into our creativity, stimulating different brain regions and promoting cognitive flexibility. Even if you don't consider yourself an artist, embracing art as a form of self-expression can provide a therapeutic outlet while supporting cognitive function. (The art attached is something I created in my covid art-rich Picasso period.Ha!)

Many swear by meditation, and I'm all in on this too. I also encourage my friends, family and clients to dive into the Positive Intelligence mental fitness training (reach out if interested). It's a game changer for stress, anxiety and boosting performance.
